2016 A to Z – O – Omniscient, Omnipresent and Omnipotent

owhen you begin to really understand, as much as we can with our feeble and finite human minds, the scope of our God it is a mind-blowing thought. God was, is and always will be. That is a statement you hear in churches all the time, but what does it really mean?

The three Os I listed within the title can really work to flesh out some of the scope of the incredible truths about God. So I think we can delve into those each independently and describe these particular qualities about our Creator. Join me won’t you as I give you my spin on these.

God is Omniscient. The word omni means a combining form meaning “all,” used in the formation of compound words. So omniscient means having complete or unlimited knowledge, awareness, or understanding; perceiving all things. Uh yeah, that makes sense that the one that created EVERYTHING knows all about it. God knows ALL. Sometimes we wish we knew more, but can you imagine how quick our puny mass of brains would sizzle if we got even a miniscule portion of God’s knowledge?

God is Omnipresent. I think the need for a definition here is moot. He is always present. referring back to the first paragraph, I said God was, God is and God always will be. He promises us when we accept Jesus into our hearts we have secured a place in Heaven with him forever. We cannot even begin to fathom what the word forever actually means. God understands forever, because as mentioned in the last paragraph He is all knowing. But what Christians really benefit the most by knowing is that God is always there when you need Him. Whether you are seeking him in trouble, or wanting to  celebrate your victory, God is waiting at all times for you. He loves to hear your requests and your praise. Don’t we all crave a friend like this?

God is Omnipotent. Think abiou5t the most powerful natural event you have ever witnessed. Perhaps it was a hurricane, tornado, flooding or something else. No matter how incredibly impressive that was on a scale of force, God is infinitely more powerful. As we know from Revelation when the end of the great tribulation comes Christ will come alone and defeat ALL the armies of the world arrayed against him. It will not matter if they have lasers, nuclear bombs, a billion solders or anything else. The one who creates all will defeat all.

Don’t think these three words are an all inclusive list of God’s traits. They are just three I chose for the A to Z challenge in the O category. But I think they are three pretty comforting ones.
